BASIC FIRST AID (EMERGENCY FIRST AID)
The Basic First Aid course meets the requirement of the Nova Scotia Department of Labour and Advanced Education and CSA Standards. Basic First Aid: Includes CPR-A/AED certification (Adult CPR). Basic First Aid is for people who require awareness, knowledge and skills of first aid. Skills include: emergency treatment of injuries and illness, victim assessment, CPR, choking, allergies, managing severe bleeding, heart attack and stroke. Mental health emergencies are now part of the course.
Length of the Course
The Basic First Aid course is 6.5 hours long, not including breaks.
What You Will Learn
Priority First Aid Training delivers nationally recognized, CSA approved courses in first aid. Course content for this course includes:

- Legal Implications of First Aid
- Self Protection
- Management of Bystanders
- Anatomy and physiology of ABC priorities
- Primary Assessment: Unconscious Victim & conscious victim
- Care of an unconscious victim
- Obstructed Airway in the adult and child
- CPR - Adult
- Automated External Defibrillation
- Heart Attack, stroke and angina, seizures, drowning and opioid emergencies
- External bleeding and shock
- Critical incident stress management
- Mental Health Emergencies
